Our Mission
Fair Future Movement’s mission is to unite the community for environmental justice. We work to foster a multiracial and multicultural environmental community by connecting and engaging with folks who have been excluded or not involved in the traditional environmental movement, dismantling systemic barriers to participation, and amplifying and organizing around current community initiatives.
Our Vision
We believe in the power of community. When we’re united, we will overcome the racism and systems of oppression that have fractured our community, created unhealthy living environments and power imbalances, and exacerbated environmental injustices.
When we collaborate, uplift each other, and hold each other accountable, we will live in a community where everyone is valued and respected. Everyone will have autonomy, be engaged in the decisions that impact their well-being, and have what they need to thrive.
Action
What We Do
Since Spring 2021, we’ve been building a multiracial and multicultural community in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin. Through our initiatives, we connect and engage with folks who have been excluded or not involved in the traditional environmental movement, work to dismantle systemic barriers to participation, and amplify and organize around current community initiatives.
Community Learning Series
Throughout the year, we invite community members to join two-month long learning sessions, where we read a selected book together to explore systems of oppression and take collective action.
Through facilitated group discussions, we create a shared understanding of the concepts in the book, connect the material to current issues, apply what we’ve learned to create impact, and deepen our engagement with local action and initiatives.
Collective Action Alerts
Every two weeks, we send a Collective Action Alert email with three suggested actions we can take in our community.
Through Collective Action Alerts we act in unison, work towards environmental justice, and target our collective power to support the needs of the community.
Fair Future Meetups
Once a quarter, we gather in person in Milwaukee to get to know one another better and be in community. We enjoy each other’s company, celebrate our successes, and connect through art, food, and music.
Through our Fair Future Meetups, we build strong relationships to better support each other and keep our movement unified.
